Autonomous AI that instantly detects disease.

CEO and founder Dr. Michael Abramoff created Digital Diagnostics (previously known as IDx) after noticing how much time he spent screening people for diabetic retinopathy who didn’t have the disease, while many people were going blind waiting months for a diagnosis. Frustrated, Dr. Abramoff, who had previous training in artificial intelligence and software development, began to research ways to automate the process safely and effectively.

Each year, over 24,000 people go blind from diabetic retinopathy. But more than 50% of people at risk for the disease do not regularly see an eye specialist due to cost and inconvenience.

Through AI, IDx is increasing patient access to high-quality, affordable testing.

IDx’s tool is increasing patient access to high-quality, affordable disease detection without needing to see a specialist. The technology we’re investing in is the first FDA-cleared autonomous AI system to make its own assessments without requiring a physician to interpret the images or results. It is highly accurate and easy to use so that any staff member can implement an exam and immediately detect and discuss results within five minutes of testing.

IDx is the exclusive AI partner for Topcon, the world’s leading ophthalmic device manufacturer, and is being deployed in diverse settings: from endocrinology and internal medicine clinics, to diagnostic labs, to retail settings and community health clinics.
